MYU[1]

Characteristics

MYU is generated from the opposite strand of the VPS9D1 gene. [1]

Cellular Localization

RT-PCR analysis reveals that the majority of the MYU transcripts were localized in the cytoplasm.[1]

Function

MYU associates with the RNA-binding protein heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein-K (hnRNP-K) to stabilize cyclin-dependent kinase 6 (CDK6) expression, thereby promoting the G1-S transition of the cell cycle.[1]

Expression

MYU(LOC10012888) is upregulated in most colon cancers and required for the tumorigenicity of colon cancer cells. MYU is also highly expressed in colorectal cancer cell lines compared with normal colon-derived fibroblast cells [1]
