Approved name: RNA component of signal recognition particle 7SL3

HGNC ID:23135

Previous symbols: RN7SL631P

Previous names: RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 631, pseudogene; RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 3

Alias symbols: 7L30.2; RNSRP3

RefSeq ID: NG_011406

Characteristics

The RN7SL3 locus differs by several single base changes from the known human 7SL RNA sequences and does not appear to be expressed at a detectable level in HeLa cells.[1] Comparison of the upstream regions revealed the presence of two conserved elements in the two human RN7SL3 genes, an ATF/CRE binding site at -43 to -50 and a TATA-like box centered around position -25.[2]

Function

Two sequence motifs can be identified in RN7SL3 at positions 10-19 and 50-60, respectively, downstream of the transcription start site that resemble putative A and B boxes. Single and multiple nucleotide substitutions in these regions also influenced transcription activity to a great extent.[2]
