Expression restricted to retina in panel of adult tissues (retina also shows the highest expression of Otx2).

Otx2 and Otx2os1 had a partially complementary expression pattern in adult retinal layers. Otx2 was predominately expressed in the outer nuclear layer (ONL) and into the inner nuclear layer (INL), while Otx2os was predominately expressed in the ganglion cell layer (GCL) and into the INL.

Conservation

Low conservation between mouse and human transcripts.

Otx2 is a transcription factor involved in brain and eye development.
