Annotated Information

Name

LINC01116: long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1116

TALNEC2: Tumor Associated Long Non-coding RNA Expressed on Chromosome 2 [1]

Characteristics

TALNEC2 is a 1,407 bp long intergenic lncRNA that is located on the reverse strand and consists of three exons [1].

Cellular Localization

TALNEC2 is localized to the cytosol [1].

Function

LINC01116 is up-regulated in human prostate cancer cell line, is decreased by SFN treatment and promotes cell proliferation [2]. Knockdown of LINC01116 will result in a significant increase in expression level of GAPDH, MAP1LC3B2, H2AFY and UBA52 in prostate cancer [2].

TALNEC2 is an attractive therapeutic target for the treatment of glioblastoma (GBM). It is highly expressed in GBM and in tumors from patients of short-term survival. The expression of TALNEC2 is associated with the increased tumorigenic potential of glioma stem cells (GSCs) and their resistance to radiation [1].

Regulation

The expression of TALNEC2 is E2F1-regulated and cell-cycle dependent [1].

Disease

  • Glioblastoma[1]
  • Prostate cancer[2]

Expression

TALNEC2 is highly expressed in GBM with poor prognosis, in GBM specimens derived from short-term survivors and in glioma cells and glioma stem cells (GSCs) [1].
