GSEC:G-quadruplex forming sequence containing lncRNA
FLJ39051 is a previously uncharacterized cytoplasmic lncRNA and also called GSEC(G-quadruplex-forming sequence containing lncRNA).
knockdown of GSEC by small interfering RNA (siRNA) can result in the decreased motility of DLD-1 cells. Similar results is obtained with the colon tumor cell line SW480.knockdown of GSEC expression by siRNA can lead to a decreased rate of wound healing. However, GSEC knockdown do not affect the proliferation or adhesion of DLD-1 cells suggest that GSEC plays an important role in the motility of colon cancer cells. In addition, GSEC can bind to the DEAH box polypeptide 36(DHX36) RNA helicase via its G-quadruplex-forming sequence and inhibits DHX36G-quadruplex unwinding activity. Moreover, knockdown of DHX36 restores the reduced migratory activity of colon cancer cells caused by GSEC knockdown.
The expression of GSEC is upregulated in human colorectal cancer compared with surrounding nontumor tissues .
