Characterisitcs

AATBC is a transcript of 4622bp and localizes in human chromosome 21q22.3, 8465bp downstream of RRP1 gene and 38902bp upstream of CSTB gene. [1]

Functions

The involvement of JNK and NRF2 pathway in apoptosis induced by AATBC knockdown.[1]
AATB knockdown attenuated bladder cancer cell proliferation.[1]

The pro-apoptotic effect of AATBC knockdown in bladder cancer may achieved through activation of JNK signaling and suppression of NRF2. Its overexpression hiders the apoptosis of tumor cells and increases the number of tumor cells, thereby promoting tumor growth, which partially explain AATBC may serve as a potential oncogene in bladder cancer.[1]

AATBC exhibits potentially pro-proliferative and anti-apoptotic functions in bladder cancer. The most possible mechanisms underlying these functions include disregulation in the cell cycle, activity of the intrinsic apoptosis that involved in JNK and NRF2 signaling pathway. AATBC might play a critical role in promoting the tumorigenesis and progression of bladder cancer through the regulation of proliferation and apoptosis.[1]

AATBC knockdown inhibits tumor growth in NOD/SCID mice.[1]

Diseases

AATBC could be a potential therapeutic target and molecular biomarker for bladder cancer. [1]

Expression

AATBC was overexpressed in bladder cancer tissues and cancer cell lines. [1]

AATBC expression was positively correlated with tumor grade and pT stage of bladder cancer.[1]
